For parents, caregivers, and neighbors of parents and caregivers there is a sweet spot that happens in the middle of the day. Everything seems to come back together, life isn’t so demanding, there’s room to breathe and think and just settle down. When the toddler cannot stand being awake any longer and must lie down to refuel for what will surely be an evening dedicated to raising hell and destruction. In this space I regain my sanity, my sense of self, and prepare for what’s to come. Naptime is my serenity.
