There’s a song I enjoy that goes “When the spirit of the Lord falls upon my heart, I will dance like David danced.”
This lyric references the famous bible verse from 2 Samuel, “David danced before the LORD with all his might, wearing a priestly garment.”
This blog is dedicated to dancing on Tuesdays and it just so happened that I woke up with that song on my mind and one question on my mind: “Exactly what kind of dance was David doing?”
Of course I’ll never know…it seems I enjoy torturing myself by asking questions that I could never be given an answer.
“What is this Life thing all about anyway?”
“Seriously, which came first, chicken or egg?”
“How DID he meet their mother?”
Anyway, I decided to do a web search with keywords “dance” “Lord” “all” “might” but that got me a bunch of Lord of the Dance videos. I doubt David was Irish Stomping in little Jerusalem. I tried several other word combinations with similar results…so finally I decided to henceforth and forever picture David in my mind, mightily dancing before the Lord like this:
I watched his video testimony just a minute ago, and now I’m positive this is all David approved. I was just telling Katy the other day that if I simply think about all the things that Life has brought me to and through, I can’t help but dance.
“Today, 6 years later, those doctors are watching me on Youtube. When I’m dancing, please, it is not for entertainment….when I dance I am dancing because every dance step I take is an (?) into the kingdom of God.”
I can dig it.
