Get Your Gratitude On

I had all these grand plans on doing a guide to ThanksLiving for the month of November but then Hurricane Sandy came along. I haven’t had a chance to put anything together since we lost power and internet for a few days but now that things are back to normal for us, maybe I’ll give it a go.

All I know is…while the chaos of the last week swirled all around me, the steady peace and gratitude that I have created within myself never left, and it was from that place that I met every moment of trial. It is from that place that I did not panic when I saw my gas tank low but gas lines long. It is from that place that I waited until the Angels (and my wife) directed me to the right time and place…while other people are waiting hours on line for gas, it took me less than 15 minutes. It is from that place of peace that I see the world unfolding as it will…it is all God happening and I’m thankful to be a part of it…I do not need power to be thankful, I do not need heat, I do not need a comfortable bed or a even the false sense of security…my gratitude is rooted in the idea that just being a part of God’s unfolding is blessing enough.

That’s just how I live….what’s going on with you?

Nice! Gratitude, for the sake of Gratitude alone, is a mental faculty that can be cultivated through practice. AKA Pure Appreciation, I try to instill the notion that one should be grateful the the sake of Mindfulness, and the simple Beauty and Peace, which is the state of the Mind when clear of Grasping or Attachment…. As opposed to being Grateful For: X,Y & Z
