This is a picture of the beautiful garden at the end of the street. Maya and I stop to admire it on each of our daily walks through the neighborhood. I don’t know who is responsible for it, but I silently give them thanks for dropping something beautiful into my day.
It dawned on me that whoever takes care of these flowers most likely does it for their own happiness. Maybe he or she enjoys the work, and/or gets a sense of satisfaction from seeing their efforts literally bloom in front of their doorstep.
There is a lesson in this type of selfishness. When we selfishly beautify our lives we cannot help but to beautify the lives of others. There’s nothing wrong with improving our environment for our own sake, but connecting to the spirit of our Oneness while engaging in the activities we love will surely make the product of our labor just that much more beautiful.
This is Beautiful living.
